Wi-Fi 7 technology is still relatively new, and the number of available devices is restricted. On the other hand, Intel published its initial Wi-Fi 7 driver a few months ago, and with the release of Windows 11 24H2 for Copilot+ devices yesterday, Microsoft confirmed support for these devices in its new operating system.
Wi-Fi 7, also known as IEEE 802.11be Extremely High Throughput (EHT), is the most recent Wi-Fi technology that provides wireless users with unparalleled speed, dependability, and efficiency.
On that topic, Microsoft has updated the Wi-Fi 7 support article with detailed instructions on how to enable Wi-Fi 7 on customers’ PCs.
Along with the support article update, Microsoft has verified that Wi-Fi 7 is available “starting with” Windows 11 version 24H2, but no information is provided on whether prior versions of Windows 11 or Windows 10 will support the technology. This is because, as we all know, Windows 10 no longer supports the 6GHz band, which is part of the technology introduced with Wi-Fi 7.
Having said that, if you are presently using a Wi-Fi 7 device, such as the Predator Connect X7 5G CPE or other supported devices, it is highly suggested that you update to Windows 11 version 24H2 since Wi-Fi 7 functionality is already included in the OS.
Update the machine to Windows 11 24H2.
