According to a revelation published by @ChangeWindows on X, Microsoft appears to have begun testing a big upgrade to the weather app in Windows 10 and 11, with notable modifications that include:
- The two ad blocks on the Weather app homepage are still present.
- The main page’s top bar now has a Current-like appearance, with rounded buttons.
- Previously, the home page title bar offered the ability to choose between bright and dark themes.
- You may change the theme by clicking the temperature unit choice pop-up, followed by the
- current title bar button. Currently, this does not function as planned, but Microsoft may correct it.
- The new navigation controls on the homepage will include links to other areas of the website, allowing you to simply move between them without scrolling up and down.
- There is a fresh light motif that is appealing to the eye. Have a peek at it below.
There are also some more alterations, such as:
- The “SEE MONTHLY PLANNER” button has been changed to “SEE MONTHLY”, and it now just scrolls down on the same page rather than launching a separate monthly summary page.
- The “WEATHER INSIGHTS” part has been replaced with the “Weather Details” section, which now displays cloud cover, wind, AQI, visibility, dew point temperature, moon phase, and other information.
- The newly updated home page features a new Weather map area with a new set of controls; see below.
- Scrolling down, the new Monthly section of the redesigned home page features two new ad blocks.
- The Weather trends part is the last element on the webpage, and it presents historical weather data for a specific place.
- Except for the homepage, the Weather app stays unchanged.
This upgrade to the design and functionality of the weather app in Windows 11 appears to be limited to a few Insider users. However, if everything is flawless, it will most likely be progressively given out to consumers.
